I have been practicing clinically for 16 years. I recently completed my BA in Organizational Management and would love to parlay into practice management. However, I’m finding it hard to take the leap after a bad experience working with an office and not getting paid for my time and services rendered. Should I look for a company to work with before attempting to venture out in my own?
Making the shift to a new aspect of your dental hygiene career can be walking a path that has a few unknowns. This can be scary and exhilarating all at the same time! I would suggest that you have a contract with anyone that you provide services for and this will reduce the chance for any misunderstandings about fees, services, or time. Market what you offer and the value that your services can bring to increasing the value of the practice as well the services to the patients. These changes often lead to increased feelings of value by the clinicians as well. Now is a great time to advance your educational background and the area you have chosen is one that we will likely continue to see demand for.
