Mentor Advice ForumWhat makes a great corporate educator?
Justine asked 3 years ago

I am a student at Farmingdale State College and I will be completing my bachelors in Spring 2020. I am very interested in becoming a clinical instructor at my local dental hygiene program. I am also interested in learning more about the field of traveling dental hygiene educator/continuing education instructor for corporations. Do you have any advice for someone who wants to become an education instructor for corporations?

Develop a few areas of expertise and work on making your presentation skills outstanding. Start small—speak at study clubs and local meetings. That helps build up your recognition!

I teach at a dental school as well as a dental hygiene school. I do not have experience as a continuing education instructor for a corporation. But I might suggest doing a voice over powerpoint on a dental topic and add a link to that video for a prospective employer.
