Do you go to the website of the state you are wanting to move to and look up what they accept? I’ve also seen people say they were licensed in a new state based on credentials. What is that process?
Licensure by reciprocity usually is defined as one state granting a license to an individual who submits documentation that he or she has a license in another state that basically has the same licensure requirements as the state he or she is seeking licensure.
Licensure by credentials is when a state requires specific credentials for licensure (diploma from an accredited program, passage of the national board, passage of a regional board at a certain level, verification that there is no criminal activity) and an applicant submits those documents for licensure.
Currently, the only list that I am aware of is in a publication by the American Association of Dental Boards titled “The Composite.” It lists these mechanism for all states. The Composite is available for purchase to nonmembers for $75. Current members and previous state board members receive a discount.
