Hello,
My name is Michelle and I am interested in furthering my career in dental hygiene. I am torn in between public health, health administration, and education. I am leaning more towards public health so I can work in a health administrative setting. I am in the process of applying to graduate programs and am torn in different directions. How would a career in public health play out after graduation in the real world? Would you suggest shadowing someone who is in that field prior to pursing it? Thank you again.

My advice, if you are interested in staying in dental care, to focus your degree on a Master of Science in Dental Hygiene. I was thinking about a MPH or MSDH and am so glad I stayed with dental hygiene. It is my passion and I focused my projects in graduate school on public health initiatives, so I got the best of both worlds!
