I have an associate’s degree in dental hygiene and am very interested in earning a bachelor’s degree. However, I would like to major in a subject other than dental hygiene. Do you have any suggestions on a course of study that would make me more marketable as an employee?
The degree that you select depends on what your goals are after graduation. For example, if you wish to pursue a career in teaching, you may want a degree in education. If public health interests you, then I would suggest you work toward a degree in this field. Business is always a good choice but again, it depends on what you see yourself doing in your career. If you decide you would like to teach or administer a dental hygiene program someday, then a master’s degree may make you more marketable in the future. There is a growing number of Master of Science in Dental Hygiene degree programs that would prepare you for this career choice. Good luck!
