Mentor Advice ForumContinuing my education past a bachelors degree
Kaitlyn Canavire asked 2 years ago

Hello, I was referred to this page by my dental hygiene professor. I am currently perusing a bachelors in dental hygiene and am curious as to what I do next. I am still in between wanting to pursue education or the business aspect of dental hygiene. I know I want to further my education following this degree but I’m not sure what are my options in master degrees? Can I get a masters in business? or a masters in education? I know I want to get a masters in something other than dental hygiene.
Thank you,

I think it is important to sit down and think about your future career goals at this point. Where would you like to be in 5-10 years? What career would you hope to be in. If you are unsure of this, that is ok. You should take some time to explore options and career paths. This will help you decide what type of graduate degree you should pursue and help you best prepare for your future career. While it is not required to have a specific type of Master’s degree to obtain a faculty position you will want to choose one that is focused on preparing educators if you decide the academic route is for you. Best of luck!
